    Hi,
I have been capturing from some NTSC sources for a while now and have noticed something strange.

New pre-recorded VHS tape capture fine in NTSC and the colour looks normal and so does some first generation stuff.

Just recently I have encountered some older NTSC VHS recording and NTSC multiple generation recording which have shown this horrible yellow cast to the footage.

Is this a common problem of NTSC video and what causes it? What steps have people done to help improve there captures. i.e filters in virtual dub

I have never notice this problem with PAL footage which I'm use too.
    Thanks

NTSC = Never Twice (the) Same Color.

All analog formats are subject to generation loss, which means that it decreases in quality as it is copied. VHS is highly susceptible to generation loss.
Since analog is voltage signal, it is possible those tapes have been subjected to a magnetic field, that affected its satutation/hues.

Copy it, then run it through a filter to clean it up.

    for filters.
