I thought I had successfully converted a .mov file to an mpeg1 file by using the mpeg2enc option using v0.0.7d: MPEG1[.MPG](mpeg2enc)

But when I try to open the resultant .mpg file (one of three files: .m1v, .mp2, and .mpg), I get this error:

"Couldn't open the file xxx.mpg because a software component needed by the movie could not be found."

It doesn't seem that there was any error in the encoding log, which follows:

I'm trying to get the .mov file to encode to mpeg-1 because it needs to be accessible by Windows Media Player users (quicktime not allowed to be installed on computers). Am I deranged for wanting to do this? Or even just mistaken in thinking I have to go all the way back to mpeg-1 anymore?

  2. It seems like you selected the SVCD preset and then changed to mpeg-1 codec. Select the VCD preset instead.
