  1. Hey everyone.

Here is my problem that I'm having with TMPGEnc. When I'm encoding a .avi to an SVCD it is set at 2VBR with a 1423 bitrate. After it is done analyzing the file it stops at 50% and a window pops up and says "Pointer Error" or sometimes I get a "Runtime error" after the files finish encoding.

This doesn't happen with all of my files but it seems to happen often now. In 11 months of encoding I never encontered this problem.

Any idea what it could be or how to fix it? Perhaps DL another file?

Thank you so much in advance.

  2. I'm guessing it is a d/l'd file and there are lots of weirdo types floating around these days. Your software probably won't handle whatever was done to that file when it was created. If it was mine and it does what you describe, I'd put it into a folder named odd, just in case it is windows going wonky.... If other files are working for a while then I'd s...-can it myself.

    Cheers

  3. The weird thing is, I used that same file 2 days before to encoded it at a 1300Bitrate. Now when I try re-encoding using that same file I get this problem. I'll Try DL another version but it doesn't make any sense.

Just to clerify what I mentioned earlier, the window that pops up says, "Invalid Pointer Operation"

  4. I've had the same problems before with TMPGEnc I think it's memory releated. By that I mean the encoder corrupts it's own logic in RAM and then give a fatal error. I would update your TMPGEnc to the very latest version that helped me a lot. I still get the error if I use highest quality on a very long video, it's almost as if the program runs out of buffer space and then crashes. I have 1 gig of RAM you would think that would be enough. Just a theory.

  5. That sorta makes sense but that doesn't explain why it worked 2 days ago and now it won't, not to mention that I can encode other files just like it. And the files themselves are only 22 minuets long.

  6. I think I found the answer to my problem, I'm trying it out now so far so good.

I'll fill you in and let you know if it works.
