Just finished my first SVCD PAL->NTSC conversion with Procoder and I'm not too happy with it.
I have done many conversions with DVD2AVI, TMPGenc, and BeSweet, and the results are good. Long winded and time consuming, but good. After doing some digging on the board I read that procoder is a much simpler and better route to go for PAL->NTSC conversions, but I'm really not happy with the result.
I used the NTSC SVCD template and changed the CBR to 2pass VBR, and set average bitrate according to the bitrate calculator. The picture is much softer than the original, and the file has come up over 100 megs smaller than the original.
Does anybody have any idea on how I could improve picture quality and output a similar file size to the original?
Thanking you in advance,
scottymac

to be honest, with this hobby you get out what you put in.
If you want the best quality it takes some work, i.e. the Bsweet TMPGenc route, if you want a one click solution with lower quality, let procoder do it for you.
Or alternatively buy a multistandard TV like everyone this side of the pond has, i can play anything on mine
