Sony DRU-510A behaves strangely

Hi:
I Bough my Sony about a month ago, but didn't have the authoring software that i wanted, now i do, and i wanted to burn a dvd (i know it was a lot of wasted burn time), anyway when i got it, i upgraded to 1.0c firmware, and recently i burned a data dvd and a video dvd, the odd thing is that the drive works well sometimes and some not, i just found out that Nero doesn't recognize the drive when the drive is in DLA, so thats one, then i disabeled the virtual drive that alcohol 120% makes, and it seemed to bring my drive back for reading and writing and everything, i enabeled it aganin then restarted few hours later and the drive wouldnt read, i enabeled DLA disabeled it and tried insertinga movie dvd, a data dvd and it doesn't seem to work, i dont know what i need to do, since i did a lot of things, i mean it was mere coincidence, anyone know what may trigger this kind of behavior?

BTW i have a ATA-133 Daughtercard and my drive is on the MOBO port, since my second mobo port doesn't work anything more you need to know just ask, i would realy like to pin point the problem so i can solve it or work arround it

I forgot to mention that i have dual hard drives, one on the mobo the other on the second port of the daughtercard and a dc burner on the primary port of the daughtercard, pc is an athlon 1800+ xp with XP and 512 megs of DDR
