Another problem with this player is the fact that it doesn't do well with VCD's. The same discs that played without a hitch on my Samsung S221 often stopped and were jerky with this player.
So far I would give this player a 3.5. It stinks.
I'm trying to get my sister to order a Norcent and take this one back to Circuit City.

The Apex 1700 is great. I have no problems with either playing DVD's or VCD's. It is very cheap as well, they sell them for $50 or so. I got mine for $70 3 months ago and am seeing them advertised for cheaper now.
