    Hi
    I have just bought a Pioneer 106D DVD-Writer.
Whilst admitting that I am new to this game I have been making VCDs and encoding video for a while.
    I encoded a movie to DVD .
    Then authored using DVD-Lab
Then burned using Record Now Max. ( following guide here http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/recordnowmax.htm )

In my standalone I got "no disk" message.
In my neighbours standalone I got fine picture but stuttery audio.
In my friends PS2 I got video and audio but jerky video.
But they play fine on my PC.

I don't think I did anything wrong during the disk creation process and have tried different encoders, authoring and burning software . All I am creating is coasters.

Is this a classic sign of crap cheap media???
I'm not gonna tell you the brand for fear of slatting
And I'm pissed off enough about this already.

  2. You're not alone

I've got about half a dozen disks that work fine in my xbox but are stuttery in my PS2 all created with DVDlab 1.1

The same media when authored in another package works fine.

Looking on the DVDlab website the 1.3 version of DVDlab seems to have 2 new options for creating DVD's which includes a Reduce Jitter option.

I'm now reluctant to burn anything authored by DVDlab as I can't afford many more bad discs

  5. I've just downloaded TMPGenc author, on initial impressions it doesn't look as good as DVDlab and that's the problem.

DVDlab is excellent, but I can't believe there isn't a solution to our problem?

Any happy DVDlab users care to comment?

Well for my purposes it does the job great.

I just want a basic menu, after all who gives a f*** about the menu??
Most people I talk to are just interested in the content.
With TMPGEnc DVD Author I can use any background image to create my menu.
And I don't bother with chapters. Most DVD players have a "Goto" or "Search" function.

    So I'm happy

  7. Fonzee: Did you re-capture or re-encode the source MPEGs before authoring with TMPG Author?

I wonder because I have a similar situation where DVDLab and MyDVD authored DVDs play fine on the PC, but when played to my TV through a DVD Player, has jitter problems when the camera pans or things move fast.

Maybe I should try TMPG Author. If you didn't re-encode, and simply re-authored, I'd be encouraged.

    Thanks,

    Greg

My source was the same video for each disk.
I authored it with DVD-Lab and encountered playback issues.
I authored the SAME file with TMPGEnc DVD Author and it produced a DVD with no playback problems whatsoever.
Both DVD-Rs were burnt with Record Now DX.

    Hope this helps
