  1. I am capturing video from vhs to mpeg and want to extract the audio to clean up some tape hiss. What program will let me extract and save the audio to a .wav so I can clean it up with something like Cooledit? I use WinDVR to capture and it will not let me capture in AVI. Virtualdub will not let me extract the audio from an MPEG. What should I do? I really don't want to convert the MPEG to an AVI. Are there any programs that will save the audio from an MPEG file?

Load the mpg into TMPGenc and hit file/output to file/wave file.

  3. If you demux it in TMPEG, That will leave you with a m2P or an mp2 audio file. Do those work in Cooledit?

If not, you could run the mp2 through Besweet and change it to wav then edit it in cooledit.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

I didn't say to demux it. TMPGenc has an option to decompress the audio and or video directly to uncompressed wav or avi.

    I'll field this.

I know you didn't. I answered him the same time you were and it would seem I questioning you... I'm not. That's the only workaround I knew.

  7. Thanks alot guys. I have been trying to figure this out for days. Now I just need to figure out how to tweak the audio to get rid of the tape hiss. Hopefully Cooledit will do the job.
