  1. I'm suddenly getting DOS/CMD windows opening in Windows XP SP1 that generate lines similar to this:

    DecompressQuery: input = DX50, 24 bits, output = (null)
    or
    DecompressQuery: input = DX30, 24 bits, output = (null)

This happens to any program were I use or touch a DivX file. Including Explorer, VDub, TMPGen and DVD2SVCD. The windows just have the program filename and path as the window title, like C:\windows\system32\explorer.exe, along with a DecompressQuery line each time an AVI/DivX files gets touched.

If I close the CMD window it ends the corresponding program. Closing the Explorer window shuts down the shell which isn't fun. The only way to get rid of it seems to be to reboot, until it pops up again when a DivX file is touched/seen/used/whatever.

Google and forum search here turns up nothing. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?

    Thanks,
    Mark

Must be something wrong with your DivX codec. Did you install any codec or codec pack lately? Get rid of your installed DivX related codecs and dl and install fresh ones from reliable sources.

LOL. Well, I'm assuming DivX.com is a reliable source but I could be wrong. Maybe it's a bug in the 5.05 Pro Bundle. What's weird is that I had upgraded it from an earlier 5.0x release a few months prior, and didn't notice any problems then.

I was using GSpot 2.21 to check a movie and it said I have two DivX codecs installed. When I clicked on each one, both were listed as 5.02 AND belonging to WinDVD Platinum and both entries listed the same files (in the WinDVD directory) and what seems like the same registry entries.

I know I had upgraded to 5.05 from DivX.com a few months earlier so I downloaded a fresh copy and reinstalled it. Now GSpot says I have two DivX codecs installed, both pointing to the 5.05 files in the System32 directory. Very strange.

Other than that, about the only other thing installed recently was AC3Filter along with the WinAMP AC3 plugin.

I did see someone else post a query about the same thing back in Aug. 2002, but didn't get any responses. The post is https://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t106638.html

    Thanks,
