    Hello

OK so I captured a NTSC LaserDisc using my AverTV Stereo PCI analog TV tuner type capture card.

The AverTV Stereo uses WDM drivers and I use WinXP Pro so I did the capture with iuVCR

When I load the capture file into VirtualDubMod I get the following:

VIDEO frame rate = 29.970 fps
AUDIO frame rate = 29.967 fps

This particular capture was just shy of being 60 minutes and I trimmed the start and end points which gives me a total time of 58:47.815

Anyways ... I frameserved into TMPGEnc and used the NTSC DVD template and selected NON-INTERLACED so it would do a IVTC on the source (which had a perfect 3-2 pattern).

However when I play back the end result (the fully encoded MPEG file) it looks very unstable ... there is a lot of shaking in the image.

I'm guessing TMPGEnc couldn't do a proper IVTC because ... I forget to mention this but it is important ... before I frameserved I selected this option in VirtualDub:

CHANGE SO VIDEO AND AUDIO DURATIONS MATCH (29.967 fps)

So ... anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

Perhaps using an AviSynth AVS script where I could do the IVTC at 29.970 and then input the 23.976fps progressive source into TMPGEnc and it (TMPGEnc) will make the video fit with the audio? If you know what I mean

    UPDATE

OK either I've lost my mind (could happen) or something ODD is going on. When I loaded the original capture and trimmed the start/end points the file had a video frame rate of 29.970 and it asked if I wanted to:

CHANGE SO VIDEO AND AUDIO DURATIONS MATCH (29.967fps)

But just now I reloaded the original capture and both the video and the audio are at 29.967fps

I tried to trim the start and end points again but it was still 29.967fps for both then I remembered I saved my processing settings to a VCF file so I reloaded the original capture and loaded the VCF file so I was back to the same state I was before I frameserved but it still says 29.967fps for both video and audio.

I swear to GOD it was 29.970 for video and 29.967 to make it synch

I did select the MATCH DURATIONS thing and save (DIRECT STREAM COPY) to a NEW file (leaving the original capture file alone) and when I load the NEW file it now says it is 29.966fps now instead of 29.967
This was when it was saying the video was 29.970 and the audio was 29.967 so when I matched it I now get a direct stream copy with 29.966

    This is VERY strange.

I'm going to try to reboot and reload the original capture and see what framerate it says.

    UPDATE 2

Well maybe I did lose my mind ... or my memory.

Turned the computer off. Turned it back on.

    Loaded up VirtualDubMod

    Loaded the original capture file

    I get this:

    Current frame rate = 29.976fps
Change so video and audio durations match (29.976fps)

    OK then.

    Whatever.

    I load the VCF file.
    I get the same thing.

So maybe I was imagining that the frame rate was originally 29.970 although I swear it was.

Anyways can I still IVTC this thing? If so what is the best method? I'll be using TMPGEnc as my MPEG-2 DVD encoder.

    Thanks
