  1. What is an .img file exactly and how would I go about converting it to an svcd or vcd? I normally use Nero for svcd conversions but did not know what options to choose with an .img file. Thanks for your help!

  3. I appreciate the reply. However, it appears that the .img file I have is too long to burn onto one disk. What programs can I use to convert this file to an .mpg or some (s)vcd compatible format where I can then split the file into 2 smaller files before burning?

  4. download isobuster (on the left). Open the file and extract the mpeg2 files (cant remeber the specific option). There is a guide that will show you the specific setting. After you do that, you can split the file up with TMPGENC or another application

the option is something like "extract with mf2 filter"
I said I'll be done in a minute. I meant a Microsoft minute.

  6. I appreciate your responses. I used isobuster and extracted the files. So now I have an empty AUDIO_TS folder and a VIDEO_TS folder which contains .vob files, .ifo files, and .bup files. Searching this site, I found some leads but I am still unsure of what to do next. I have tried using DVD2AVI but that didn't work. I also tried Smartripper unsuccessfully. I am beginning to wonder if the files I have are corrupt because when I open it in DVD2AVI and click preview, the information window that pops up is empty and the REMAIN box is filled in which says FINISH. I would like the final result to be a SVCD. Can someone tell me where to go from here.

You could try using Alcohol 120%, which allows you to mount an image file as a psuedo-drive (so it looks like you've got the DVD mounted).

You can then check it's valid by playing the DVD with your chosen DVD playback software (e.g. WinDVD).

If it is OK, then try to use DVD2AVI, DVDDecryptor or SmartRipper.

If it doesn't playback OK, then the IMG is probably screwed.

  8. download dvd2svcd. Purchase TMPGENC,CCE, or procorder. Open the template for either SVCD or VCD load the ifo file from the conversion tab click go. In about 4-8 hours, you'll have a file ready to burn to SVCD or VCD. There are a number of gides for dvd2svcd that you can use that will walk you through the process.

  9. Just wanted to thank everyone for the suggestions offered. I tried Alcohol to mount and view the image and it worked so I knew the file was legit. Then, instead of trying to open the vob files I had, I opened the img file in DVD2AVI and created a project and then decoded with TMPGENC. That worked but now the movie has syn issues so I'll have to experiment with it some more. Thanks again.
