    If so will I join them in the dvd writers list. I can't find any info about the dw-u10a on sonys pages.

    I think it's the OEM version of the 500A, not the 510A.

    Yes the DW-U10A is an OEM version of DRU-500A not DRU-510A.
    AFAIK the only differences between DRU-500A and DW-U10A are the front bezel and the firmware versions and I don't think Sony has released the 2.4x -> 4x DVD+R update for the DW-U10A that is available for the retail DRU-500A. But with a hacked firmware updater it's possible to flash the DW-U10A with the DRU-500A(X) firmware.

    DW-U10A = OEM Sony DRU-500A
    DW-U12A = OEM Sony DRU-500AX
    DW-U14A = OEM Sony DRU-510A
