    Hi, mahinda
Yes, you can make your own bitmap logos. Theres a DOS program included in the PV231 software, something called makeyuv.exe or bmptoyuv.exe, or something like that. You have to use it on your own bitmap to convert it to yuv. Just run the program without any switch and it will give you the instructions. Remember to rename the bitmap as the original logo.bmp before using the DOS program and backup your original logo.bmp.
    Good Luck!

I don't have the PV231 nor the software installed right now. Give me some time to check out the exact procedure and I'll let you know.

OK. Look in your Mpeg-i or PV231 directory for a file named bmp2yuv.exe. Go to a DOSprompt, change to that directory and type: bmp2yuv. This will give you a list of switches and how to use. It's very simple and easy. Let me know.
    Happy Trails!

  8. Dear Fravel ,
Please don’t get angry to my stupid question. I am new to this field.
I found the bmp2yuv.exe ( in C:\program files\mpeg-1). But I don’t know How to change DOSprompt directory. After open Dosprompt (It automatically opened in full screen ) I typed C:\program files\mpeg-1
It says ….bad command or file name…
Therefore please explain me how to do this.
This is my last question. After this, surely I will release you…

    cd c:\program files\mpeg-1
will get you there, unless you're on 95 or 98 in which case you'll want
    cd c:\progra~1\mpeg-1

If you get stuck with other DOS commands a quick google search should bring up all the info you need.

flaninacupboard is right. I'm sorry I didsn't know you were new to DOS. And there is no stupidity in trying to learn. Keep up learning and visiting this forums and soon you'll have a lot of knowledge about video. Good Luck, mahinda, and thanks, flaninacupboard.
Happy Trails to both of you!

    Mahinda,
That's because it's not "mpeg-1". It's mpeg-i. Try again and change the directory to mpeg-i.

Write at the prompt: bmp2yuv and press return. You will see some switches you can use with the program.
The problem is I don't have that installed and I can't tell you exactly by memory. Let me see if I can reinstall mpeg-i and then I'll give you exactly what you have to write.
Oh, I'm not great. I'm just glad to help.

    OK, here we go:

    C:\Program Files\MPEG-I>bmp2yuv

    Usage: BMP2YUV [option] input_BMP_file output_file

    [option]
/P generates YCbCr data for a normal picture.
/L generates YCbCr data for transparent background logo,
    background color must be black.

** This program generates YCbCr data for logo by default.
** The BMP file must be 24-bit non-compressed RGB format.
** The width and height must be in units of 16 pixels
** For a logo file conversion, the width must be 96 pixels and
** the height must be 32 pixels.
    Copyright(C) 2000

The above is what the program says in it's instructions.
In [option] you write /P or /L depending if you want a logo with transparency or not.
You substitute input_BMP_file with the name of your bitmap with the .bmp extension.
Substitute file output_file with logo.yuv and press return. That's all.

    For example: BMP2YUV /L xxx.bmp logo.yuv

    Remember the spaces.
Before doing this, backup your original Logo.YUV and place your intended bitmap file in the same mpeg-i directory. I don't remeber if you can have more than 96 x 32 pixels in size, but your bitmap must be in multiples of 16 for height and width. I would recommend a black background for your logo if you want to make it transparent with the /L switch.
    Good Luck!
