i just really wish the morex case supported one full size optical drive, then i'd buy one for sure! i like the look, and it's be great as a standalone cd/dvd duplicator, and after 15 seconds to remove the dvd burner replace with an ADVC-50 to use as a capture device. i do VHS coversions for people sometimes, it'd be great to show up at their house with just the one little box under my arm, plug in, cap their tape, encode and and then burn. Although i'd need to hunk my xp2000 in with me to do the encode, but that's another story.....
I do quite fancy the GA610 on the bottom of this page here
Mmmmmm. ok, next pay day i'm buying one!

That GA610 appears too proprietary. You would be better of with the Shuttle product. A little bigger but better expansion/upgrade potential.
By hey - each to their own.

OOOH, I like it, Craig!! All those front access connections would make my life so much better! I can't get at them at the back (long nails :c*). Have to ask my husband to do it every time. Pathetic, or what!?

Yours looks like a dream come true to me! :cD

The only thing I don't like about thart SB61 is it doesn't have video out, I guess if you get a video card that has it, that would be OK. Otherwise the same as mine, mine has onboard video. The onboard video is pretty good too.

Actually, mine is an SS50, with a P4 2Ghz in it. And it is what I use for capping and encoding and DVD burning. My panasonic LF-D311 fits with a lot of room left over. I built a SV25 for my parents. And I did have the original... Shuttle's FV-24 mainboard. Basically the same as the board inside the SV25. They also had an SV24 shortly after that FV24 came out. The SS41 and SS51 and great little basic machines. The 41 is AMD, the 51 P4 based.

The ITX was an experiment, one that I found would not work in my area, for HDTV.

The one with the printer (Fiery/Epson RS-5100 X2) isn't really a computer anymore. More like an industrial machine, it only does RIP duties for the printer. There is no known way to convert to a R5000 based computer. No keyboard, no mouse, no graphics card. It runs on some form of Unix, VXware I think.

I had many more, but flames and smoke took them away. Too bad to, I had some nice dual processor machines. Only managed to salvage the FV24 (which only mostly works), and an old K6-2 500Mhz which is configured as a Raster Image Processor for an Epson 1520 printer. If I start using that printer heavily, I'll trade the ITX for the K6. The ITX is running at 933Mhz, and 2 processor generations better. The FV24 is in my "Bung-holio" machine (for indolikaa ). I'll explain that one if you really want to know.

Anyone looking for a basic PC should consider one of those ITX machines. Super small, but still a lot of punch. With USB2 and firewire it is tough to go wrong. Just buy a drive enclosure or 2 and you are all set. They make good cheap machines for your kids, or a in cramped dorm room. And yes they are quiet. The SS50 is kinda loud compared. The new "XPC's" use different cooling than mine, so they are a little more quiet. But if you have a machine that does nothing but act as a server or download machine, the fanless ITX would be perfect, as long as you have one with firewire.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  11. I have a Shuttle SV25 and don't really like it. The TV out looks like crap,The headphone out sounds like crap, it's loud and runs hotter than hell. I use mine as my entertainment PC in the livingroom with an Xcard for TV and 5.1 sound out to my surround sound system. Maybe the newer ones are better?

I've been thinking about building a custom wooden case for the shop computer that I'm supposed to build, soon. It would be a good opportunity for me to tackle a unique project that showcases my skill, but I doubt that I'd be able to find the time to build it.

  17. cplevel42,

How do you hook up your speakers to your computer? (or do you?)

I once had this makeshift headphone jack out to computer speaker wire wire but I lost it. What do you use?

Yeah, I'm getting a much bigger desk soon. Nope, no kinks in the neck yet.

@g_shocker182 - Yep, their hooked up to my reciever and that is hooked up to the 20 band EQ which is hooked up to my Audigy soundblaster. The cord that I use to hook up from the sound card has a mini (1) plug at one end and splits into 2 regular stereo components at the other. These 2 are connected to the EQ. This works pretty well.

It probably won't stay that way for long, but I'm trying to keep it organized for as long as I possibly can.

-That must have cost you a pretty penny. . Did you build it yourself or was it one of those ultimate OEM Alienware's?

    @cplevel42
I had just skipped the receiver (never needed one) and connected two speakers with speaker wire from that HP jack. Anyone know where I can get these cables?

I need to get a matching screen first. I hooked up an old 17" CRT I have, but it just didn't cut it next to my LCD. Someday.....

I built it myself from scratch...

Yeah, it was a little pricey, but I managed to get decent deals on most of my hardware shopping around online.

The nice cases are not priced that badly in some cases such as without a powersupply.
