Try reading some of the guides on this site. Start with the convert section, you should find what you need to get started there. Then you will need to author and burn, there are guides for that too. If you have problems, feel frre to come back and ask specific questions, detailing what you have done so far and waht has gone wrong.
Hope this helps. -
I just wanna convert avi(691mb) to regular mpg file, only have a cd burner not a dvd burner. Tried with TMPGEnc various ways and also with NeroVison Express but when converted with TMPGEnc it was 2 gig and nero well its to big to fit on a 700mb disk. How do i convert to mpg and retain a near same file size?

Again: read the guides under HOW-TO/Convert. The size of your AVI has no correspondance to the size it will be when encoded to mpeg. The mpeg size is determined by the movies length in time, and what bit rate you use when encoding to mpeg.
Use a bit rate calculator (found under Tools) to find what bit rate to use.
A VCD (700 MB CD-R) can hold about 80 minutes, SVCD less - from 60 down to 30 min (but with a better picture quality).
If you have a movie longer than these figures, you have to split the movie over several CDs.
