I can't believe it! I found a FREE CD/DVD burning software called Burn4free and only found one (1) hit on this forum. This easy tool is really good. It will make music CD's Data CD's and DVD's. I use it in conjuction with DVDShrink to back-up my DVD's. It is as good as Record Now Max only FREE. I give it two thumbs way up. Check it out here

Oh by the way Adaware and Spybot found no spyware

So, if you get a burning program in the package, you should dump it and look for a FREE burning program, instead?

I don't know what you are buying, but if I buy a burner in a box, it comes with a burning program.

Admittedly, the burner I bought over the weekend had NTI CD Maker in the box, which I have never heard mentioned on this site, but, since I replaced a LiteOn, feel that it is legal to use the Nero with the new burner.

Now, if you saved 2 bucks by buying n OEM with no software, cables, screws, etc., be my guest. Oh, yes, no warranty, either ( well, maybe 30 days ).

Well, I saved more like $150.00 by buying a DVD burner that was pulled from new HP computers that did not sell and put back in the box. No software. So no, if you have burning software I'm not saying you should drop it and look for a freebie. But if you don't, and you don't want a hacked or cracked version of Nero or Record Now Max. Plus I've never had any luck with NERO and DVD backups. So if you need one get this

  4. Burn4Free(free) locks your drives at 12x,you must upgrade(pay) to unlock.I tried Burn4Free(free) on my Sony DRU-500A and Lite-On LTR-52246S and it burned a CD and DVD fine but the DVD(mp3's) wouldn't play in my PC or standalone.
I think I will continue to use RecordNow DX.

That's cool. All I did was put the info out there. Works great for me and I don't own any other DVD burning software.

My new Emachine came with a NEC1300 but the software is
Roxio EzCD 5 "Basic" which is "basically" only capable of burning data, ... no music, no video...
I wonder how much more it would have cost them to include a burning software with more capability?

I currently have Nero5 which I bought off internet last year for $9.

Thanks for the info, I'll try it.
    God Bless

I tried giving Roxio another chance... upgraded years ago to EZCD Creator. Tried again with EZCD + DVD v6... and again I feel used, abused and ripped off. Roxio has terrible support - IF you can get them. I have never used a product of theirs to satisfaction. What a waste of money.

Stay away from anything stamped Roxio.
