Okay, first of all I have scoured this entire site and I have only found incomplete bits and pieces of what I need to know, so don't tell me to just use the search feature.
I downloaded a DivX file that came with an .idx file and a .sub file. I have no clue what the .idx file is and I assume that the .sub file is the subtitles seeing as how when I opened up the .idx file there was no text from the movie.
I have tried to play the .sub file with VLC 0.6.2 and MPlayer, but it wouldn't show up on the movie. Then I tried to load the .idx file with VLC, it took the file but it wouldn't play it, MPlayer would not even take the file.
I really want to see this movie and I can't watch it without the subtitles because lets face it, I don't know Japanese. There is no .srt file and no I can't get one so please answer this question...
... HOW DO I PLAY A .SUB FILE!!!
ps. I would be happy to hardcode the subs to the movie by converting it to SVCD or even VCD with FFMPEG, if someone could tell me how to do it.
