I need to create a DVD (small File) for a demo. I would like to know if it is possible to create a DVD that will work in a stand alone player that will Start the video automatically and also and the most importantly......Continue to play it forever. ????

Any and all help would be appreciated....

  2. I can think of two ways of doing it. Firstly, some DVD players have that option in the settings. You can check the menus of the DVD player.

If you're not sure which DVD player is going to be used, then you can author the DVD with a simple one item menu. If you use an authoring sw like DVD Workshop, you can specify to automatically start playing the first title (in this case the only title), after so many seconds. You can specify maybe one or two seconds. That's all is needed. Then you should specify to jump to the menu after the tiltle is finished playing. This way you get a loop. When you stick the disk in the player, it starts playing the menu. After 2 seconds, it starts playing the main tiltle. After the main tiltle is finished, it jumps back to the menu. Then the cycle starts over.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks. Knew it had to be something simple. I usually use TMPGENCDVD Author for quick and easy stuff. It didn't work for some reason though. It automatically started to play ok, but when it was done playing it just went back to the main menu....I'll give your way a try...

  4. I don't use TMPGenc DVD Author but both DVD Maestro and DVD Lab (and I assume Adobe Encore) you can tell the DVD what action to take after each chapter point. Set a chapter point at the end of the disc and then set end action to 'chapter 1'.

You can also set (with Maestro) the menu to time out. Remember unless this is interactive there's no need to return to the menu or even have a 'real menu' a motion MPEG of that 'looks like' amenu is good enough.

You mentioned you can set after chapter actions in DVD-lab. I knew you could do this in Maestro, but how do you do it in DVD-lab? I know how to set the end of movie action, just not after chapter actions.

    DVD-Mizer:

DVD-Lab can do what you ask. Simply set the movie as te first play object by dragging the connection from the first play iceon to the movie. Then drag the end of movie connection back to itself. It will create a looped movie that will start automatically and then simply repeat itself forever.
