I was reading on Cafepress.com that they use a more expensive Mitsui CD-R that has a silver bottom so it looks like a standard pressed CD. I have never heard of these before. Can anyone point me to a place where I can buy some?

    Thanks

I assume they are talking about Mitsui's Phthalocyanine dye. Would I be correct in that?

They do some CD-R's there which they say are silver bottomed. There are several manufacturers promiting these now.

  5. Yeah they make silver bottom CDRs, they are a bit pricier than regular ones though and supposedly have a higher reflectivity which results in improved readability. They look like pressed discs but are CD-Recordable (obviously).

    High Quality, High Price.

Here is a manufacture link and quote

MAM CD-R is the most compatible in the industry. Not all CD drives are created equal. Although drive manufacturers need to conform to a basic set of standards for manufacturing, there are subtle differences in how well the "pickups" are able to handle the reflected signals from CDs. MAM CD-R has the highest reflectivity in the industry, which improves the accuracy of the player read-back.

I've got some of these. They are very silver and shiny on both sides. I guess it depends what you want to do. If compatability is an issue, you could use these. If it's because your sisters dvd player does not play your svcds, it'd be cheaper to buy here a new dvd player.
