  1. It may be the software, but I might as well just throw this question out there and let the wise ones guide me. =)

I'm using Pinnacle Studio 8 to capture, author, and burn movies from VHS to SVCD. I selected the "best quality" option to make the disk. Under this option I can store about 34 minutes of film. However, it takes Studio8 2 hours to render and burn the disk. Is it normal?

I'm aware that the better the quality I want for my CD, the longer it will take to render (author) - but seriously 2 hours for every 34 minutes of film? At this rate it will take me forever to convert tv series.

    Any thoughts/ideas?????

  2. It depends very much on your CPU speed. How fast is your PC?

  4. Hmmm, 2 hours to encode 34 minutes of SVCD on a 2.2Ghz P4. Doesn't seem too excessive. Remember, it will render to HD first before burning, so allow 10-15 minutes for that, depending on your burner speed and rating of media. I don't know which encoder Pinnacle Studio 8 uses or what the output quality is like. CCE would probably do it faster, depending on your settings.
