  2. I like Instant Copy. IMO it's at least as good as anything else, if not better.

  3. I tryed backing up 'The Ring' with IC7 and i only left the main movie ticked ...but it done the menu as well ..and the menu on that film takes up quite a lot of space which could have been used for the main movie....Anyway to fix this? or any better programs anyone?

Movie only? Best quality is without a doubt CCE via either DVD2SVCD, or DVD2DVDR.

  5. Quality is just too subjective to get a definitive answer for a question like this. You may well get one answer for each program/method out there!

and thats how the flame wars start

regarding original question, IC7 blows the rest away (kidding cos I have different eyes to evryone else so my impression of quality may differ )

just rip only the relevant movie files before using IC. Use either a ripper or DVDShrink to rip only the files you need. DVDShrink is probably the quickest method as you can strip the audio while ripping and also crop the start/end credits if need be

(chances are some clever dick will come along and say 'this' method is better anyway)

  7. Qualitywise, IC7 is the best of the transcoders, but both TMPGEnc and CCE blow any transcoder out of the water. No contest.
