bit $$ dont you think? Its quite difficult to do what it says though manually, ie the way i would do it, so if that does what it says then hey, why not!

  4. I am so gunshy after being totally buggered by Discomvobulator+ that I don't dare spend the money. My inquiry did get a quick reply from David of the Miraizon Sales team. He said a full money back guarantee if not satisfied. Never heard that from you know who. (F_*&^_k*&_G A_&*H_&^_L Ripoff) !!!

As long as you are only interested in copying sections from -YOUR OWN- DVD projects - something burned by DVDSP, iDVD, etc.

    this is from their FAQ.

When I try to preview or extract a segment off of my commercial DVD, I get this error message saying my VTS is encrypted and cannot be processed. Why is this?

You get this error message when you try to preview or extract from an encrypted DVD. Almost all the commercial DVDs available today are protected with Content Scrambling System (CSS) encryption. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) in the US prohibits “circumventing” this encryption. In accordance with this law, Cinematize does not allow previewing or extracting data from encrypted DVD discs and files. Should this law be changed or overturned in the future, Miraizon will most likely upgrade Cinematize to remove these restrictions.

DVDBackup doesnt allow you extract a chapter from a DVD -- only whole files from the DVD structure (i.e., an .ifo, a .bup or a .vob). Of course, 0Sex will allow you to extract a chapter, but it may corrupt the .ac3 file, cause an otherwise in sync file to go out of sync, and totally damages .pcm audio.

This product implies it is everything you've ever wanted -- which should throw up a red flag for all of us.

  9. Hey dudes, all you have to do is use DVDBackup first and then use Toast to make an DVD disc image of the resulting files. Mount the image and......Viola! You have the same title w/o encryption. The question is, does this program then do what it is advertising? What I need is a program that will really break a "too large" title into separate burnable parts. OSX extractor works...sort of, but you lose your AC3 sound or worst case, the files are incompatible with authoring programs. Sometimes they are repairable with Bd4go, Extractor, or MPEG APPEND but alot of times your left hanging. Or with some bullshit thing like "something went wrong and we have no idea why" which should be the title of the program instead of "Discomvobulator +".

  10. Response from David at Miraizon:

Yes, you understand correctly. You can just drop any unencrypted
VIDEO_TS folder onto Cinematize and then do whatever extraction
    operations you like.

Regarding our return policy, we follow the policy of our e-commerce
partner Kagi which you can find here:

Essentially, our satisfaction guarantee is for 30 days. After this we
    cannot accept returns.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

  12. OK,

Took a unencripted VIDEO_TS folder of some ABBA videos and dropped it on Cinematize and DAMN its fast! I selected a certain song i wanted out of it and saved it as a QT file and as a .mpg (MPG2) file .... took one-two seconds only.

QT file is saved as: MPEG2 Video 640X480 None,Stereo,48khz,16bits

MPEG2 file is saved as: MPEG2 Muxed, 640x480

data rate for both is about 500k/sec

but the file sizes are quite different for the two files (same video)

    QT file = 171.2mb
    MPEG2 = 73.9mb

seems like it works fast and well!

Are you saying it literally took one or two seconds to complete the task(s) you gave it?

  14. Yes,

on that VIDEO_TS folder of ABBA vids it seemed to work great and FAST!.... but now trying a movie i am having various issues ....... dvd vob errors and not in sync output with .mov conversion .....

    has promise though!

  15. after putting it through its paces it works as promised 90% of the time ( like most stuff

it is really quick in taking a chapter out of a vob and converting it to a .mov file (seconds only for a music video for example)

the resulting qt file is a MPEG2 at a data rate of about 525k/sec

it can not be edited in qt pro as is. it can be exported to .mp4, then edited.

works fast less filling what more?

  16. Bernie,

Since I am new to all of this, my question may seem dumb to most.

What program did you use to get your VIDEO_TS folder?

I am trying to figure out which programs to get that work the best. I have heard of DVDBackup and OSEx.

Did you run the DVD through that program first and then "drop" the VIDEO_TS folder on Cinemtize?

Thank you for any help you can give me.

  17. Hello Bulldog,

    Welcome to the forum!

Most commericially produced DVD's are encripted, so you can not work with (or copy) the VIDEO_TS folder that is on them. To be able to work with those folders you need to run the DVD through a program like DVDBackup, then the resulting VIDEO_TS folder can be dropped on Cine.

    Get DVDBackup at http://versiontracker.com/mp/new_search.m?productDB=mac&mode=Quick&OS_Filter=MacOSX&se...Backup&x=0&y=0

  20. you know i gotta tell you this program is cool. Its great to take a chapter out of a dvd and have this program save it as a QT file, then be able to down convert it (and trim as necessary) to a VERY small .mpeg4 file to send to friends via email.

The part that takes the longest is the conversion from QT mpg2 to QT mpeg4 --- the Cine part is seconds only!

    great!

  21. Well i went and bought this cuz it sounded like exactly what i needed but unfortunately all of the .VOB's from my DMR-e50 that i've extracted so far have been out of sync.Just spent some time on the phone with somone over there and they were very nice but didn't have much for me in the way of a solution besides trying to encode to elementary streams and import into Imovie that way although he wasn't too hopeful that would work. I'm gonna sent them a DVD I made on my Panasonic so they can study it and see if that's the problem.

Anybody else having these sync issues?

I might be needing my $$$ back on this one....

  22. Don't understand why but I got the following results using this product-
On a .VOB from a DMR-E50 the result was an out of sync .mov..
Ditto on a file from a commercial dvd that had been run thru DVDBackup and DVD2onex - out of sync...

and then most shockingly- i took a commercial dvd of "the 5th element'-ran it thru dvdbackup-then extracted a chapter with cinematize-the result had a horrible screech for an audio track-

tech support was nice but couldn't explain my results...
have initiated my refund process altough I would love to get this to work...

it sounds like a great idea but the only thing i NEEDED it for was the extracting of VOB's from my dmr-e50....

  23. The authors of the program have said that they have addressed the bugs and will up a new version in a couple of weeks.
