    1. Okay so does anyone know why AC3 files extracted by OSex are not recognised as AC3 files.. unless you convert them to AIFF and then back?

    2. Are there any other AC3 converters aside from mAC3dec?

    3. DVDbackup does not allow chapter extraction am I correct?

  3. I guess that would be called an assumption :P

well lets put it this way. Even if DVD Player DID open auto play, I still would have not played the DVD. I would have stopped it from playing right away to start the rip process. I would've had no idea to actually play the DVD for 30 secs or so.

In my case , I have that option disabled. I did it as soon as installed Panther. I dont like the player to start automatically. I'm sure a lot of people have that option disabled.

Anyway, As it turns out. You have to play EVERY DVD for a few seconds to authenticate every DVD. So even if I had the DVD player to auto play for the first disc I would've then disabled that option for all consecutive discs. And at this point I again would've wondered why DVDBackup is not working.

So just some advise for any of you that have any guides on your sites. Make sure the first thing you say is that you have to first play each DVD for a few seconds before using DVDBackup to authenticate the DVD.

Also if people are thinking of getting a DP G5 you can tell them that it takes 15 minutes to rip a 4.4GB DVD5. Thats how long it took for me.

I thought it was 20 but realized that that was for 6GB.

    Peace

    This is from my website

    Step 1:* BACKUP/DECRYPTION OF DVD

NOTE: Before you run DVDBackup, you must first run Apple DVD Player and have it access/play the DVD. Simply having it open and then immediately quit may cause errors during the ripping process.* Its best to have it open, play and skip around with the chapter forward button.

    1. Open DVDBackup 1.3 and drag your mounted DVD to the left window.
    2. Next Simply click the Process Files button on the bottom right of the window. When the Save window comes up, make sure to select the create VIDEO_TS option.

(my recommendation is to have created a new folder on your desktop that reflects the dvd name and the fact that this is the backup file)** For example, “Two Weeks Notice Backup”* then save the VIDEO_TS folder in that folder.
