  1. I have just bought a Sony DWU-10A DVD writer. The problem I am having is that it can't read a DVD-RW disk. It always reports 0GB when you look at the properties. Nero says that there is no disk in the drive.
It did manage to recognise the disk once, but has never again. It can read CD's and CD-R's OK.
I'm also having a problem in that when I try to update the firmware or use the program DVDInfo or DVD Plus Identifier, it just reboots my PC.
I am using WinXP Pro and have the drive in IDE1 as master. There is no other device on the cable.
    Any ideas?

I have the same writer, still on original firmware 1.1a.
    Does the drive see a -r or a +r disc ?
I take it Windows identifies the drive correctly, jumper set on Master.

I can only think it is a media problem.
I mainly use white label gold edition -rw x1 and have had no problems.
Have also used a x2 -rw Datarite (green label).

Update to the latest version of Nero .42. I have had problems with Nero 6 and gone back to 5.5.

Maybe try a different brand of disc.

    Hope that helps.
