HowHow to add permanent subtitles with VobSub
VobSub
Virtualdub
Avisynth
i have a problem with this guide
ok i've got the 3 programs, but at first, they say that when u rip a dvd subtitle file, it will form then 2 files: an "idx" file, and a "sub" file, both that's just when u have the subtitle from a dvd and u rip it.
but what about when i donwload a subtitle from the internet, and its in sub format, how do i get the other file,(idx file)

There seems to be 2 kinds of .SUB format files: One text based (the one you can DL, like you say) and one that comes together with a .idx, that's the "raw" sub title data ripped from a VOB.
For text based subs, I convert to .SSA (if it's not so already), then use VirtualDub and the subtitler filter by Avery Lee. Frame serve to encoder and enjoy.
