  1. I have a question
if a divx/xvid avi file is ripped into 2cds from a 4.7gig DVD

then if putting them back onto a DVD shoulnt it be 4.7gig again?

when i do it its 5.0gig+ so i have 2 scale it down so it fits

this isnt really a problem as ya can hardly tell, its just a question ive always wanted to know :P

the final size when you convert them back to mpeg2 is going to depend on your bitrate - if they are ending up over 5Gb, you need to drop your bitrate when you reencode.

in the Tools section, you'll find a good Bitrate Calculator for this site - you tell it the total time, it'll tell you the bitrate you need to keep it on 1 disc.

And remember, your movie might have been 5 or 6 Gb originally, if it was on a dual-layer disc (dvd9).
