    Hi,

I am trying to backup a DVD with LPCM audio but audio is missing in the
final product. The reason I am doing the following procedure is because
it was suggested that if I convert LPCM audio to ac3 audio, I can save
a lot of space which can be used for video. The following thread has
    this discussion: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=171277

    The procedure I followed is:
    1. Ripped the movie as a single vob file using SmartRipper.
(First, I ripped in stream processing mode but it created to video
files and one audio file. So, ripped the movie again by creating
    a single vob file)
    2. Demuxed unsing TMPGenc (used MPEG Tools -> Simple Demux)
and got one video and one audio (.WAV) file.
    3. Followed Baldrick's guide to convert WAV to AC3. In BeSeet I used
    Endian-Motorola, 48KHz, and 384bits.
    4. Used TMPGenc DVD Author to create DVD files using video file in
#2 above and audio file in #3 above.
    5. Used Nero to burn on to a DVDRW.

My dvd player is Apex AD1500. I also tested with PowerDVD in my pc.
    There is no audio.

I did some search on these forums and multiplexed video and the ac3
audio using bbMpeg. The mpeg that was created has audio when I played
it on my pc. But if I create DVD files using the same mpeg file in
TMPGenc DVD author, againg there is no audio.

Appreciate if anybody can tell me what I am missing here.

    Thanks.

I tried ac3fix and it said there are no errors in my original ac3 audio file.
If I play just the ac3 audio file, it plays fine. Only if I multiplex it with
TMPGenc DVD Author, the audio is missing. Any thoughts?
