  1. I have not been able to convert to mpeg 2 properly since i got my Asus 0402p DVD burner.

No matter which codec i use huffyuv picvideo morgan even uncompressed
I get wavey lines on my encodes especially when scene change or high movement. I have used different field order and lots of other various combinations..it has blown my mind I had it worked out using morgan than last night i upgraded the firmware and now i can't encode from any avi codec without this error...Wmedia player plays the file fine Power dvd shows the error ..standalone dvd shows error i have done test on various clips frameserving with avisynth going to all types of specs same problem

    Any suggestions

  4. more info

    have an
    Asus DRW 0402p DVD-r burner
    Via chipset Celeron 1.1 ghx
    Leadtek A170 vivo graphics card
    650mb ram

    Problem:
Ever since i got my burner all my avi encodes to mpeg 2 have been all wavey and messy on major scene cahnges and high movement.
I have tried several encoding apps frameserving with avisynth.

I am able to load the file directly into tmpgenc and let that program do it all with no problems however it adds 20 hrs to the encode.

I have used many settings when capturing the file many different avi codec eg Pcivideo morgan mjepg huffyuv even uncompressed avi everytime it is framserved this problem occurs.

In some other thread I wuggested that you may doing the resizing wrong but you said the problem was caused by picvideo. Did you try my suggestion of avisynth resizing script?

Did you install any new software with your burner? If so try uninstall it or make a system restore to a point before the burner was installed. Sometimes one software can affect other in most strange ways. For instance when my girlfriend installed Ulead DVD PictureShow 2 all her system sounds disappeared, but it was solved with a patch from Ulead.

Have you tried to remove the burner? Maybe there is a hardware problem?

  9. I have tried that but now i all the system point to that hardware it's hard to change back unless i reinstall without the burner. I haven't installed any software that cause problems i initally thought it was the dvd authoring software but it is not

  10. Are you saying that you were able to capture without problems, with the same hardware, and the ONLY change made was to install the DVD burner? If so, the obvious answer is to uninstall all software and drivers associated with the burner, re-install original codecs and software, and physically disconnect the burner, both power and data cables.

If this does not immediately solve the problem, be certain you have re-installed all software, drivers, and codecs. You need to get back to a working baseline. Create a system restore point when this has been acheived, NAME IT, and save it twice.

Once you have got the system working, physically connect the burner, data and power, but do NOTHING else - NO SOFTWARE. Test. If this works, then load the software and the problem should re-occur. If you're still OK, then some sort of corruption occurred during install. If it is the software, DL the latest versions or try something else. If it's the burner itself, return it as defective.

Is the burner by any chance on the same IDE channel as your capture drive? If so, seperate it. Test as above first, then add moving drive to other channel before burner software re-install.

  11. they are definatly not on the same ide channel. that is a fair enough test one that needs time to do ....i suppose that is the best way to go ...when i get some time thats what i will do thanks for the advice.....
