  1. I encoded an mpeg file with TMPGEnc that was a little to large. I decided to author it anyway using TMPGEnc DVD Author (thinking that maybe DVDShrink would resize it to a burnable length). The combined size of the mpg and mp2 files was 4.43 GB (4,759,876,548 bytes). When I authored it, the size of was 4.17 GB (4,485,652,480 bytes). I didn't cut any parts out.

Anyone have any ideas why this happened?

  2. Never mind, I figured it out. I encoded to an MPG and TMPGEnc encoded the audio even though there was no audio input. Since the encoded audio was 384 kbps and the mp2 I used in DVD Author was 192 kbps, the final DVD was smaller.
