Looking at starting to rip dvds and wondering if a 4x dvd rom (Toshiba) is adequate??
I know, stupid newbie, search the forums...I did and couldn't find an exact answer.. any help is thanked...

While I have your attention can I ask you another q:
Ive been reading up on DVDx which reads like it is an all in
one ripping & encoding, splitting tool for beginners, right?
Well, the download I got also has other zips on it too like TMPGEnc, and Avisynth, are those needed, because I didn't see them in the guide..

The idea of DVDx is great, esspecially since you can use the same plugins as for FlasK. But somehow the results can't compete (yet) with TMPGenc. The program just circulates for the last couple of months, where TMPGenc had about 18 months (more??) to evolve. If DVDx would evolve as fast as it did the last months I think it will become a winner.
I've used DVDx several times, but esspecially the subtitles are terrible.
