Loaded up an MPEG into VDubMod to convert to watch on my PPC.

    1) I *think* it's an MPEG 2 'cause I can't load it into "normal" VDub w/out getting an error ("MPEG Import Filter: pack synchronization error"). Am I correct so far?

    2) I successfully loaded it into VDubMod and converted it once, but can't repeat, even w/ the same input MPEG file. I get the error "ACM reported error on audio decompress" when saving to AVI.

Steps I took to choose Audio settings were:

    a) Click "Streams"
    b) Click "Stream List"
    c) It was empty, so I added the MPEG file again (?)
    d) I chose full processing mode
    e) Then 32 bit, mono, 3 kbit/s

When saving to avi, I got the above error. Any ideas?

  2. I don't understand what you are trying to do. You don't need to convert MPEG2 to AVI to view it on your PC. There are tons of software players that can do that, e.g., PowerDVD, WinDVD, etc.

If you are doing it for other purposes, VDubMod isn't as stable and reliable as the old DVD2AVI-->AVISynth method, when it comes to MPEG2. DVD2AVI is time-tested, stable, reliable.

Sorry, I should have been more explicit.

I am trying to make it smaller both in dimensions and physical size so I can fit them more efficiently on my Pocket PC ("PPC"), a Dell Axim.

Thus, I am basically "shrinking" them. VirtualDub has been my tool of choice because I prefer DivX rather than MPEG, but I'm flexible.
