  1. I recently bought a 10 pack of Kyphermedia DVD+RW at Micro Center (I know, you get what you pay for) and I am having issues using them on other players.

I have a HP 200i with the latest 1.41 firmware and am using Ulead Video Studio 7.0 to burn some vacation movies from my Mini DV camcorder.

I can view the DVD in my HP once I create it, but not in any of my external players. I have a Sony DVP-S530D standalone.

The comments I have read in the media section seem positive on the Kyphermedia DVD+RW and people haven't had a problem playing them on external players.

I am new to DVD burning and want to know if I might be doing something wrong. I figured if it was a coaster it wouldn't even play on my burner.

    Any help?

  2. You were gonna say it was firmware 1.51, right?

You can change the booktype of a DVD+RW (rewritable) even after burning.

Download DVDInfo PRO and set it to DVD-ROM.

    It might help.

I suggest you change the drives default booktypes too.

Now, does it play in the burner or not?

BTW authoring programs don't burn so well it could be a problem too
use Nero or RecordNow Max(DX) to burn the VIDEO_TS folder (or image file) created by Video Studio.

    not

it wouldn't even play on my burner.

I said IF it was a coaster, it wouldn't play on my burner. I made that reference to make it clear that I did not think it was a BAD MEDIA issue, rather a format issue.

I finally found an FAQ topic that I think will clear it up, hopefully.

I think it leans toward what you were saying. I am going to create the video_ts directory with Video Studio, then burn it 1.02 compliant with Nero 6.0.

    Thanks for the input.

Don't forget Nero also supports some kinda bitsetting!

    Always works for me!

www.dvdshrink.info has a good flash guide for Nero!
    www.mrbass.org also nice

    Good luck.

  6. Well, the first thing I tried didn't work. I used the DVD-ROM UDF setting. There was also a UDF-ISO setting, should I have used that one?

I am going to go back and try it using the check box you just showed me for Book Type.

  7. Use DVD-Video compilation
    or
    DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO)

    Please check www.dvdshrink.info 's guide!!

  8. Thanks, I went to dvdshrink. I am burning the UDF-ISO right now. If that doesn't work, I will try the other DVD-Video, then I will try to mess around with the other options.
