Hi Guys, I have a couple of really strange divx-problems and I would really appreciate some help if anyone knows what I'm talking about.

I've been converting a lot of avi's lately to mpg's (vcd-format) so I can burn them on DVD. About half of the conversions have worked out fine. But with the other half I notice that I get a very annoying audio-sync problem. I've been trying to solve it in 2 different ways:

1. I scan the file with virtualdub and remove the bad frames and save a new avi. Then I encode the new file to mpg. That sometimes works.

2. Instead of making a mpg-file out of the avi I make a m1v- and a mp2-file. That also works sometimes.

However I still haven't found out a way to sync the audio with some avi's. When I check the properties for the problematic files I notice that they have one thing in common: it says "lame mp3"....

Anyway there were so many large avi's on my harddrive that I hadn't been able to fix and I didn't want to erase them so I backed them up on a dvd. (I used nero to burn them and I just chose "dvd-rom (ISO)". Now when I want to work with the backed-up avis again they won't open!!!!!!! And they all used to work fine (apart from the audiosync-problem I already mentioned)

This has been driving me mad, I copied the avi's back to the HD but they still won't open. How can the files suddenly become unsupported after I backed them up? (and no I haven't removed any codecs from my computer lately).

So there are my 2 questions: how to audiosync avis with lame mp3-sound + an explanation to what happened with the backed up avis.

Hope you answer. Cheers.
A
