  1. The other day we had a small thunderstorm, so i turned off my dvd player, and tv. The next day i go to pop in a newly aquired dvd, and the thing wont turn on. Ive Tried unpluging the cord in the back, and every outlet in the room, i yet to have positives results. I belive the warranty is out of date, and i doubt that i can take it back to walmart. What to do what to do?

Open it up and look for a fuse, either on the circuit board or where the power enters the unit. Other than that?!?

I've seen DVD players for as little as $40.00,it's not worth repairing. Buy a new one. Best Buy has one for $40. and it's probably better than your old Apex.

Well, if no warranty, and no working, then you have little to lose by opening the case. If still dead then do this: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=173457
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  10. my gf's ad-500wm started acting up the other day also.
it still has power, and it still plays, you can hear it ans see it.
    but the video is jumpy.
    sound is still perfect.

sound like a bad video output on the circuit board?

anyone have a broken ad-500-wm that wants to send me their circuit board out of it?

  11. good news!

after reading some of the nerd-out website

    http://www.nerd-out.com/darrenk/500WM/500WM.htm

i decided to attempt to update the firmware with their newer region free / no macrovision version.

    http://www.nerd-out.com/darrenk/500WM/U500WM_UP.zip

i am happy to say that the video output problems are now gone and its fully functioning again.

just think, without the internet, i would have just thrown it away.
    yay for internet!
