  1. After you have captured the video from either tv or comcroder and its a mpeg file, how do you convert it to dvd fromat?? Burned the mpeg file to straight cd and plays on DVD player but quality is real bad.

  2. Are you talking about MPEG1 or 2? It sounds like MPEG1 if your talking CD. If so, a VCD is not the highest resolution and in most instances will look like garbage if you're not real careful in the capture and encode.

YOu might want to bump up to SVCD or DVD and encoding to an MPEG2 compliant resolution.

VCD compliant mpeg1 files (352x240 resolution) are valid for DVD, if that's the files you're creating. Re-encoding to some other (higher) DVD resolution would not be recommended, it would only result in poorer quality. Your captured files are not going to get any better by putting them into DVD format I'm afraid, the best you could hope for would be to keep the quality the same.

Now, if you can capture at a higher resolution than VCD like either 352x480 (1/2 DVD) or 720x480 (NTSC DVD) in mpeg2 format, then you can author and burn these files straight to dvd and get much better quality. Check out the "Author" section for creating a DVD from your mpegs.
