im trying to convert a d/led .avi (divx) to vcd using tmpgenc, i used goldwave to extract audio to pcm, but when converting in tmpgenc the video freezes at the beginning, so i cancel the conversion and playback the file and its like stuck after like 3 secs but the audio keeps going, i tried 3 diff version of tmpgenc but still the same, i checked for bad frames using vdub but it said there isn't any, the avi plays back fine tho, thanks in advance.

Try saving out a new (direct stream) copy of the AVI with VirtualDub (Vdub states that it will never save out a bad frame). That the avi plays back fine is by no means an indicator of it being without errors!
9 out of 10 dl'ed AVIs do have errors in my experience. Many to the point where conversion is simply not worth it.

D/L'd video are typically error ridden. Use VDUB to clean it up and try encoding again. I can almost always get an AVI converted, as long as I don't mind a hiccup here and there where it's cut between keyframes.

Death to people that encode 1 keyframe every 300 frames; come on you one-click wonders, change the effing DivX defaults :P :P :P
