    The first public release is finished.

    Let me outline some of the features:

    Name change
    There is a name change to the application. It will be called SVCD2DVD and starts with version 1.5 Why? Well this is to ease some of the confusion over the free version & the version for donators. So SVCD2DVDMPG is the free version & SVCD2DVD replaces the "plus" version.

    Technical improvments
    There are some technical improvments. DOS boxed are no longer spawned, so it is a much "cleaner" application. Errors are shown on the log screen and a log file is produced on each run with detailed info. This will help pinpoint any issues with rogue mpegs. There is a CPU load indicator & "in progress" bar. Both of these enable you to see that the application is doing something & not just hanging.

    Menus
    Finally Menus. A new application, DVD MenuMaker, has been written. It has the ability to run on its own but is currently best suited to be launched from SVCD2DVD. After setting up the VTSs for your DVD you launch DVD MenuMaker and design your menu.

    I have included 100 backgrounds with the install but you are encouraged to improve these or make your own in your favourite graphics program to achive that professional look - dropshadows, button areas, light effects, banner/watermarks etc. Once such a background is loaded up you can edit, resize, change text, fonts & colours of your button text and arrange them as you please.

    Button text is anti-aliased by default - no more jaggy text on your buttons!

    The menus is encoded & used by SVCD2DVD.

    Have a look at the Walkthrough

    And see the website for download details.

    It will be sometime over the weekend. I haven't decided how I'm going to roll it out yet. Most likely it will be a new page where you enter your serial.

    I'll let you know.

    Hmmm, can't get it to work though. "Unexpected exception handle" or something... I get the error message in swedish, and then two choices: close or ignore. Seems to be something with the .net thingy.

    The first line:

    Its looking for the CPU performance counter:

    Code:
    cpuCounter.CategoryName = "Processor";
    			cpuCounter.CounterName = "% Processor Time";
    			cpuCounter.InstanceName = "_Total";
    and i suspect its called something else in swedisg (or ither non english OS version for that matter)

    I'll have to disable it......

    When will the update be released? approximately...

  16. I had a difficult time getting to the download page. It wouldn't accept my serial number and I was convinced I had entered it properly.

    Eventually (30 minutes later) I realized my serial number was a negative number! It was difficult to spot because in the email the serial number follows an equal sign. These tired OLD eyes just didn't see it.

    So a tip for the rest of you, the "-" IS part of the serial number.

    Hmmmmmmmmmm.

    Best,

  21. Tried going to update page and the latest version showing after entering my email and serial no is.
    SVCD2DVDMPG+.exe Version: 1.0.1322.16071
    Not seeing any 1.5 version ?
    Tried auto update as well and that only takes me to the version above.

    ChrissyBoy,

    Are you the creator of SVCD2DVD? I'm only asking because I paid via PayPal this morning to get the + version but I haven't received any emails with a serial number yet.

    Just wondering,

    Hi,

    the new version is really great !!! Good work Chrissy,

    but I'm still missing a real great feature in the new version: Choosing cpu priority for this program.
    When working on the PC it would be very nice if the SVCD2DVD-program could be set to a lower task priority.

    has anyone had any issues with the new menu system? i made my menu background in Photoshop and exported it as a high quality JPEG, but it came out looking very blurry (as well as the text i put in with the new svcd2dvd prog)... I'm sure it shouldn't look this way... any suggestions?

  26. I love the look of the new program, but I have not been able to fully try it out to see how the new menu system works. I'm having an issue with the bin files not ripping. I get to the point where I click on START, then nothing happens.

    I'm running XP home (en) with all the latest updates. The system is a celeron 1.8ghz with 640RAM. I had no problems running the older version of SVCD2DVD on it.

    I'm also using a background I created in photoshop.

    Any ideas?

    amciotola: make sure you have no hyphens in either the filenames of the bins or indeed anywhere in the path to those bins. (its a bug which I'm working on)

    after seeing the menu come up blurry I figured the reason must have been because my svcd source is in ntsc, and i chose the pal menu system (like an *idiot*!). So I redid the whole dvd, only to find out that when I chose PAL this time around, the menu looked even worse!
    as I mentioned before (under the username "guest") I created my menu in Photoshop and exported as a high quality JPEG, adding the text in DVD MenuMaker. Does anyone know if I would be better off using BMP files instead?

    No I don't, actually:

    C:\LoisClark\DVD1\lncs4ep1.bin

    I converted the bin to mpg manually and am trying now from the mpg directly and it seems to be working.
