    I have the problem with it not extracting bin images, and also if AutoUpdate on startup is on, it goes into a loop and keeps updating all the time...

  2. I am having a nightmare of a time trying to use a background created in Photoshop 7.0. I took background b005.jpg and added a picture and text on top of it. Then saved as a level 4 progressive JPEG.

    In the new menu system everything looks normal. However the buttons do not show in the final output (PowerDVD or on TV Screen). The functionality for them is there and all nine TV episodes play correctly. You just have to guess where you are in the menu system.

    Please note everything works fine when using background b005.jpg with no additions. All 9 buttons show up just fine.

    So what are the requirements for the JPEG backgrounds?

    Best,

    DJmobius

    P.S. This nightmare has also shown the need for a "Save Project" feature. Any chance?

    spiderman2k1: Pick a folder not a file.

    madden: i will look into this but as a workaround you should make sure a button is selected when changing the text.

    djmobius: try using a 24bpp bitmap. The only reason i use jpegs is for bandwidth considerations.

    D-an-W et al. I shall investigate the ripping issue.

    philmcp: I have sent you about 4 emails. Please check. Otherwise let me know of an alternative emaill addy.

    Also now.. I ripped the bin because 1.5 seems to not want to do it. So it does start to convert the mpg file and get this error.

    E:\MOViE_FILE\file_DVD.ac3 is not a valid mpg file

    E:\MOVIE_FILE\file_DVD.mpg is not a valid mpg file

    ||||||||||||||||||||PROCESSING ABORTED||||||||||||||||||||||||

    this worked before with SVCD2DVD+ ?
    never had a problem..

    all I did was use ISObuster like always

    Works fine for me - However I was using MPEG files (Mixture of SVCD & VCD format) using 6 MPEG files to make 3 movies with a PAL menu (Using a default image)
    Full process took 2 hours 30 mins (for 4.1 Gb of MPEG's)
    Plays and looks fine in DVD player.

    A few options to look into for future updates:
    Add audio to menu screen
    Option to design buttons

    I'm using svcd files with ntsc menu. Could be something with softencode.
    As I remember I had to use just mpg for audio with these svcd.mpgs as softencode did not like the audio tracks.

  15. For the .NET framework try windowsupdate.microsoft.com
    There is an option for .NET Framework. You can also download the full update and install yourself from http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/downloads/redist.aspx

    Hope this helps.

    chrissyboy,

    i'm doing my menu's in photoshop at 720x480 (for an ntsc menu) at 72dpi using high quality JPEG compression. they come up blurry and the text is almost unreadable (as created in DVD Menu Creator). Should I use 24bit bitmaps instead?

  17. Chrissyboy, v1.5 is great. I did experience some problems using the "new menu" tab. Error msg i recieved stated: "Dvdmaker could not found in the directory (the directory they were referring to was C:\". I had installed this v1.5 in the E:\ directory. So, i unintalled the program from E:\ and reinstalled it into the C:\ directory. Problem fixed. Overall, this version is aswsome espically the menu option.

    Menus:

    Jpeg/bmp doesn't matter. I'd use a 24 bpp however as this not compressed.

    Dimensions:

    Due to the non square nature of TV pixels menus need to be resized to maintain correct aspect ration. It is done as follows:

    // 4:3 NTSC: 720x540 -> 720x480
    // 4:3 PAL: 768x576 -> 720x576

    Therefore DVD MenuMaker (in the case of NTSC) will take any image you give it & rezise it to 720x540. Once you add your buttons & export it is resized to 720x480. The resulting picture will look squashed slightly on the PC but till be fine on the TV.

    If you created a image in photoshop @ 720x480 then it would be resized twice. This would probably account for the blurryness.

    Create images as follows:

    PAL: 768x576
    NTSC: 720x540

  21. Thought i'd add another positive comment (balance up some of the negatives in this thread ) Just had my first proper chance to use v1.5, worked great, 3 movies/buttons and a custom menu background, had absolutely no problems. Cheers chrissyboy...

    Ditto from me also, this is excelent work.

    For the menu system is there any way you can give the names of the buttons the name of the first file in the VTS as the default? Or launch MEnuMaker in a thread so that I can go back to the main window and see which movie I put in each VTS.

  30. I have converted 2 SVCD bin images to a DVD and included a (PAL) menu.

    But when I play it on my DVD Player I briefly see a flicker of the background (I dont see the buttons) I selected then it starts playing the first movie.

    It works fine on my PC DVD-ROM.

    Am I doing something wrong in terms of the menu?
