  1. Why is it some DVDs and CDRs have longer titles and nice little icons next to their names in Explorer? I just want to know (for instance) why my DVD says "Back_To_The_Future" when I can only get "Back_To_The_Futu" in the Volume Label box.. Is there some sort of info file hidden someplace? What I'd really like to know is, instead of buying an entire authoring package just for gimmicky features like this, are there secret ways of performing these various little "professional" tweaks on DVDRs?

    thanks

  2. Under the ISO character set, your volume label can be up to 32 characters long, spacing words with underscores and only capital letters are recognized. There are exceptions to this however when ripping is involved.

You can easily adjust the volume label of a ripped disc image (iso) in DVD Decrypter or you can simply give your recording a new volume label if you are working from dvd data folders.

Icons are merely data on the ROM portion of the disc, just like how CDs have autoruns and such. You can specify icons by using autorun files and including an icon on your disc in a location you can refer in the autorun.
