  1. I haev two MPG files that total up to about 850MB. What can I convert them to, without losing quality, so that they will fit on a 700MB CD? And how do I convert them. I haev have Sonic Foundry Vegas Video 4.0C if that will work.

    Thanks.

    some options:
    reduce the bitrate.
    try VBR rather than CBR.
try reducing the bitrate of the audio if that is less important.

VV4 will handle all that, or use TMPGEnc

unfornately, to reduce something must disappear, and could well be quality, but you can try minimising the loss with the above options.

BTW, is is MPEG2 or MPEG1 and are you doing it just to fit on 1 CD ? or VCD/SVCD?

How to do this? Just render in VV4/TMPGEnc and select from the options.

  3. If you don't plan to author it, then make an XviD, no doubt the best solution. If you plan to author, you can make an 795MB file because (X)(S)VCD gets burnt in Mode 2 (800MB per 700MB disc), which doesn't have the error correction since the formats have their own (kinda).
