Scan and remove bad frames, here's how.

  3. Downloaded divx movies??

Another possibility is that the audio is encode with VBR. TmpGenc doesn't like this which causes this problem. To find out if this is the case, open the avi in virtualdub. If it warns about VBR audio, this is the problem.

    Two possible solutions.

    1) Use TmpGencs source range feature to stop the encode on the last (or last but one) frame.
    2) Use virtualdub or goldwave to extract the audio to an uncompressed wav file and use that as the audio source when you encode.
