  1. I'm not a newbie, but I figured this would be the correct forum to ask this. What exactly is the audio/video interleaving in vdub actually do? I'm not talking about the audio skewing option, I know what that does. I'm talking about the box where you can enable/disable interleaving. The defaults are preload 500ms of audio before video starts and interleave audio every 1 frame.

Should this option be enabled when frameserving or saving an edited avi? Like I said, I'm sure what this does or what effect it has. Maybe it's used by DVD players to pre load audio?

    Thanks

  2. A/V interleaving does what the name suggests -- interleave video and audio together, very much like a multiplexer with MPEG1/2.

Let's say you have a AVI clip, which you want change its audio with a new audio track. You load your clip in VDub, choose Audio --> Wav (MP3) in direct stream mode, enter your configuration in A/V Interleaving, like A/V delay to maintian synch, save as new AVI. Now you have a new clip with new audio track. Most versions of VDub have problem dealing with MP3 audio. For that poupose, you might need NanDub.

    Hope it helps.
