  1. Hi everyone, I have been reading and experimenting unsuccessfully. I love building 'FLASH' with Adobe LiveMotion, I now want to place some of my projects onto a CD rom (without a menu) in a SVCD format and have them auto boot in a household DVD player..the process I tried was..convert the flash SWF file to AVI then convert to SVCD and burn to CD...the SVCD will not boot in the DVD player. I am open to any suggestions including any that might point to me using one program to do all the conversions in one hit. I only have a CD-R burner....Thankyou.

  2. Did you check to see if the DVD player is compatible with SVCD

In general, most players will play VCD and some will play SVCD, so that might be it. You're best bet for best compatibility would be VCD or do both.

  3. Hi Phil, my DVD player does play SVCD, Ive been making some photo slide shows with (Pro Show Gold) that are saved as SVCD,,the program does everything for me...I am not sure whether Nero requires me to add some missing file to make it auto boot.. Can you tell me...does a burn in SVCD format mean it will auto boot ?

  4. It should read it no problem if done correctly.

You might want to download Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2 and use it to do the SVCD and see if you get different results.

hmmmmmm..... that's a puzzler. what are you using to convert to SVCD format from your avi?

and what kind of source material have you used on the SVCD's that you've made in the past? Have they been animations, or were they live action video? (although that shouldn't make any difference....)

dunno... honestly, if I was in your shoes, I would go back to the original avi file, reconvert, and reauthor the SVCD, and see if there was some glitch in the process the first time. I've run into a few things where it was just a momentary hiccup in the computer - when I do the same steps the same way on the same media a second time, it works just fine.

sorry I can't give you better info... I'm stumped...

  8. House~, I use 2 types of CDR..I have just tested my DVD player with previously burnt SVCD done on both mediums..they play fine....I have created a new production and burnt them to both mediums...neither have played in the DVD...I conclude that it must be in a conversion stage but oddly the created Mpeg2 when opened on my computer will play off the newly burnt SVCD.....I am lost for words.

  9. Phillip,,,I D/Loaded the trial version of Unlead DVD MovieMaker...guess what........the problem still persists. I think I have enough info now to follow several leads....I am going to retrace my steps and systematically rework each of them (with an axe if I need too..LOL)......Thanks again.

did you just make a data disk by burning the mpeg to the cd? if so that's your problem. You have to authour it as an SVCD. If you are using nero just choose new SVCD from the presets or wizard. Is your mpeg resolution 480X480?

  11. When you make the MPEG it needs a weird Blck Size for SVCd I think.
