help with cyberhome ch-dvd 500!

the weirdest shit happened - about a month ago i made an 8 minute abs VCD and i kept it in my cyber home and used it every day - now, 2 days ago, the dvd player stopped reading the disc, and will now not read any cd-r's! - plays dvd and dvd-r's fine, but wont read cd-r's or cd-rw's! - what can i do to fix this and what the heck happend?

and i can't upgrade the firmware because it needs to be put on a cd-r, i tried from a dvd+rw but it wouldnt read

You might want to try turning off the master power switch on the back or unplug it for a bit to reset the machine. If it still refuses to work it is a standard IDE dvd drive so you might be able to relace the drive with a better one cheap.
Also they seem to respond pretty well to e-mails about problems and questions, maybe they will rma it if it's under warranty.

yea, the first thing i tried was uplugging the power cable - but it did not help - i just emailed cyber home and ill see what they say - i've had it for less than a year so hopefully it's still under warranty
