With my Pentium III, 800mhz, 198 ram it takes 20 min to convert 5 min video clip (VCD compliant).

  4. I wnet form a AMD 500 - 384 megs of pc 100 ram to a thunderbird 1.2 gig 266 bus with 512 megs of PC 133 ram I went from encoding a 4 minute video that took 1hour 20 min. to 9 min. now.
Could even capture Divx without huge frame drops with the 500 now its now problem with thumnderbird (no frame drops).

  5. The processor is the single most important component if you want high encoding speeds in TMPGEnc.

TMPGEnc doesn't use much RAM, and the speed of your hard disk won't make a difference, so if you're buying a new computer for encoding, get the fastest processor you can.

By the way, TMPGEnc supports dual processors very well if you go that route.
