How do I know that an avi file is in divX format?
Is there a program to analise an avi file ?

avicodec, or gspot, both are in the tools section. Should give you the properties of your file and the codec. Alternatively on a windows xp machine with divx installed you can right click and select "properties" then select summary, if it is in "simple" mode, select "advanced". It should tell you what video codec the file was encoded in.
