I have some mpeg2 files that were re-encoded from mpeg to mpeg2 format. The video is not that bad, as a matter of fact it is quite good BUT I have avi files of the same show with excellent quality video.
My question is: If I were to encode the video portion of the avi to mpeg2, rip the audio from my existing mpeg2's would I need a basic editor to join the two(without a/v sync errors) or should I go the more expensive route and use a timeline based editor.
Thanks for any and all replies!!![]()

Why not re-encode the audio and video together?
Going the other way would just require a re-mux tool, wouldn't save much time, and would be more likely to have synch issues. -
I don't know if it's like this with everyone BUT everytime I post a question here usually within 12 hours I always find the answer BEFORE I check my post.
I loaded the video portion of the avi I have and then ripped the audio from the mpeg2 I have and combined them together and SO FAR, no A/V sync porblems.
The only reason I was asking the previous question was due to the fact of the mpeg2 file being edited (I cut the commercials out) and I did not think the sync would line up correctly. Vegas Video worked like a charm, like I said before, SO FAR. I now have to do a test burn to see if it will be ok in dvd format on my stand alone.
If there's anything else pleas elet me know!!
Thanks again!!
