  1. I try to do some reserch here and there but i only find information about riping dvd and burnig it onto video cd, i have a few mpg file wich are too long to fit in a cd, i now i can compress it with TMPGEnc wich i did several times but it takes too long and sometimes compromise the quality of the file, my idea is re-encode avi files with tmpgenc to mpg files and after burn it into a dvd+r to watch it in my dvd player...... firs question it is possible? and second q. how to do it?
Thanx for any information about it.

If that was possible DVD Burners wouldn't exist, no one would need them. In short...its impossible. Use TMPGEnc, cut your MPEG files and use 2 CD-R's. Its the easiest way, short of shelling out for a DVD burner.

  3. Yes, you have to have a DVD burner to make DVD's, and then if you haven't noticed you still have to make a choice on those as there are different formats. -R +R etc.. Even if you get a drive that burns both formats, you still have to decide which type disk to use in it.

PLEASE don't ask which is the best, just do a search for the 300 existing threads to read on the subject

Luckily though, prices have dropped ALOT recently and newer brands are becomming availble all the time.

You can get one for around $150 (maybe less).

Do lots of research and reading, I did and still am.
