With my Sony TRV33 I captured by using Scenalyzer and WMM through Firewire a DV file (PC: P IV, 2,4 GHz, 512MB, Raid 2xMaxtor 80GB 7200 rpm).
While playing it back on my PC with WMP or any other player I see a strange effect. Both capture tools result in this effect.
The parts on the screen with much motion (i.e. moving arm of a person) are shown as horizontal stripes. It seems like there are lines missing in the picture, but only on that part of the screen where the motion is.
Is this is capturing problem or a playback problem? My PC should be able to handle these captures AFAIK.
If it is a playback issue can I go on with compiling a movie without any loss of quality?
Afterwards I plan to burn a DVD (OK I have to convert it to MPEG2) and keep the original on my drive in DV format (AVI with no loss of quality).

It is interlacing. Since you are making DVDs, it will look fine on a NTSC TV.
