  1. Hello,
I tried to play a certain .avi video "(Divx505-720x400-2h02m)". Somehow Window Media Player 9 attempted to download a codec. It failed though. I couldnt watch any scenes. So I extracted the audio with Virtualdub and converted the .avi video to .mpg video with the audio. I used TMPGEnc to do the job. This time round, I am able to watch the scenes. But Window Media Player 9 showed the total time of the video to only 16 seconds. But the video countinues to run even after the 16 seconds.

Somebody please enlighten me on how to get the total time back to normal.

look at the tools on the left, look at the codec packs. find one with an mpeg2 codec, and use that.

...or try using another player. For DivX, there are plenty - ZoomPlayer, Playa... For mpegs, a software DVD player works best IMHO. Don't let MS fool you to believe that WMP is the final solution for all your media playback needs. It will never be, no matter how bloated they make it.

Get the 4CC changer from the tools section. WMP9 blows as a player, I reccomend about anything else, like BSPlayer. I bet your header is 3ivx/3ivx, try changing it to divx/divx. WMP9 was thinking it's the old hacked DivX 3 codec, and attempting to d/l the M$ codec with the same name.
